Every Company Counts is proud to partner with some of Rhode Island's leading business professionals to provide quality business consulting to Rhode Island's small business community. ECC realizes that it is the current and emerging small businesses that will bring Rhode Island out of our current economic situation and build a vibrant economy.
We applaud our consultants for stepping forward to volunteer their services to help ECC realize its vision to create a small business services community that provides a competitive advantage, enables entrepreneurs and fosters job creation in Rhode Island.
All sessions are available by appointment only using our online registration system. Registration does not guarantee a specific date or time and should not be considered confirmed until an ECC team member contacts you directly. All appointments will be confirmed within 48 hours of registration.
The following sessions are available:
- Emergency Management 101 Session (Any day of the week Mom-Fri, any time of tday 8:30am -4:30pm based upon availability)
An opportunity to meet with RIEMA experts for a NO COST hour long disaster preparedness strategy session.
- In these sessions, topics may include, but are not limited to:
- How does a small business prepare for a major weather event workplace violence
- or any other hazard that could shut you down for an extended period of time.
The recent flood event taught us many lessons. The RIEMA staff would like to help you be ready to deal with whatever all hazard event comes your way.
You will come to RIEMA Headquarters in Cranston and see firsthand how we prepare and respond to critical situations and will spend one hour with our staff learning how to prepare a disaster plan.

- Business Energy Efficiency Sessions (Any day of the week Mon-Fri, any time of day 8am-5pm based upon availability)
Meet one-on-one with a National Grid program representative for a NO COST on-site energy audit.
Incentives and Financing:
- If you decide to install the efficiency measures recommended from your on-site audit, National Grid will pay 70% of the installation and equipment costs.
- You can finance your 30% share of the cost, as well. Your share will be placed on
- your monthly electric bill. You can pay in one lump sum (and earn a further 15% discount of the amount due) or you can choose interest-free financing for up to 24 months.
The Small Business Services program offers:
- A FREE on-site energy audit of your facility’s electrical equipment
- Based on the audit, a proposal is developed with recommended energy efficiency measures
- Equipment installation at your convenience by licensed qualified contractors
- Removal and environmentally-friendly disposal of fluorescent lights and ballasts from your facility
Eligibility Criteria: Open to National Grid business customers whose average monthly kW demand is 200 kW or less.

- Non-Profit Business Information Mondays (the first and third Monday of each month at 9, 10 and 11am based on availability)
Take this opportunity to meet with Attorney Geoff Schoos, president and founder of the Rhode Island Center for Law and Public Policy (RICLAPP). For over ten years, through his private practice and then through RICLAPP, Geoff has been providing legal counsel to entrepreneurs seeking to start their own non-profit businesses and to established non-profit business owners.

- Business Development Thursdays with Ed Green (bi-weekly) (9:30, 10:30 and 11:30am based on availability)
You will have the opportunity to meet with Ed Greene, MBA of Sage Business Solutions and experience one-on-one coaching. Ed is an experienced coach and consultant and has also taught at Roger Williams University and the University of Rhode Island.
Areas of discussion can include, but are not limited to:

- Coaching: We develop relationships with our clients based on our ability to provide coaching and mentoring. We demonstrate and suggest methods and alternatives to managing and meeting challenges.

- Planning: Every aspect of your business should be included in your plan. We work with you to create a plan that guides you in choosing your path to success.

- Regulatory Friday's with Jim Bruckshaw of The RI OSHA Consultation Program (once monthly) (9, 10, and 11am based on availability)
The RI OSHA Consultation Program provides safety and health consultation services to small and medium sized private businesses in the State of Rhode Island.
Services include evaluation of current working conditions to find workplace hazards which may include:
- Atmospheric sampling
- Work place safety procedures
- Injury and illness trends
- Review of written programs
- Training and any number of like type activities.
- All evaluation is done to provide the small employer with a resource and expert evaluation to comply with current workplace safety regulations in a preventive and proactive approach without penalty and confidentially.
This service is free for small and medium-size business, (up to 250 employees at a single site or 500 corporate wide), who submit a request to the Office of Occupational Health. This service is also confidential. Your business name, your name, and any information you provide about your workplace, plus any unsafe or unhealthful working conditions that the consultant uncovers, will be kept confidential.
The only obligation that you, the business owner has, is to commit to correcting any serious job safety and health hazards.
The Consultation Program is completely separate from OSHA enforcement operations. A consultant will visit your worksite at your request to provide the assistance you specifically seek.
As a result, during a consultation a consultant will not:
- Issue citations or impose penalties for violationsof federal or state OSHA statutes which may come to light during a consultation visit.
- Guarantee that your workplace will pass a federal or state OSHA inspection, however it has been demonstrated that a consultation visit will significantly reduce the citation or penalty impact of future inspection.
- Recommend specific companies to solve any problems which become apparent during a consultation.
A safe and healthy work environment will decrease your cost of doing business, and add to your overall profitability, and ensure a safe working environment for you, and your employees.
The Consultation Program is designed to help employers control costs by reducing accidents, illnesses, and problems with regulatory compliance.
