Rhode Island Department of Business Regulation

The Department of Business Regulation (DBR) assists, educates and protects the public through the implementation and enforcement of state laws mandating regulation and licensing of designated businesses, professions, occupations and other specific activities while recognizing the need to foster a sound business environment.

DBR is comprised of four divisions: Insurance Division, Banking Division, Securities Division, Division of Commercial Licensing and Racing & Athletics.

Industry/occupational licensing under DBR authority includes regulation of alcoholic beverages, real estate, auto body shops, travel agencies, mobile homes and alarm installers and solicitation organizations.
