Office of Regulatory Reform- RI Economic Development Corporation
Rhode Island's Economic Developmetn Corporation's Office of Regulatory Reform was created in 2010 by executive order and supported by legislation from both the House and Senate. The newly instated office aims to improve the state's business climate by making it easier for small and mid-sized businesses to deal with state and municipal permitting and regulatory affairs.
The Office of Regulatory Reform seeks to:
1. Provide direct assistance to incoming and existing Rhode Island businesses in navigating through regulatory systems;
2. Work with state agencies and local municipalities on efforts to streamline local permitting processes;
3. Recommend legislative and regulatory changes to the state leadership;
4. Intervene in any regulatory or permitting matters for the purpose of assuring the efficient and consistent implementation of rules and regulations to foster the creation and rentention of Rhode Island jobs;
5. Publish reports from executive branches agencies on their regulatory environment.
